Busy busy busy!

WOW! Its been a hectic few weeks with Xmas on the horizon and my daughters first birthday so I haven't had time to post as much as I'd like. However, I notice I have a few more followers than last time, so thanks for that and here are my latest projects - The Swordmasters of Hoeth from the Island of Blood boxed set.

Swordmasters
This set was great as Simon collects Skaven, and I collect Elves so we both got some shiny new minis as well as the new edition rulebook! The colour scheme of the army is the traditional blue and white scheme, and I am quite proud of how clean these warriors have turned out.

I plan on bulking these out to a unit of 20 in the future (for that authentic 'Deathstar' effect!), although in the last game I played against Simon's Ogres these chaps destroyed a unit of 8 Ogres led by a butcher in one turn! If I'm being critical, the banner needs more work, so I'll work on that at a later date.

Coming soon are more pictures of my Blood Angels Strike-force and some battle reports from the early stages of a Warhammer campaign Stu, Si and I are playing.

Happy Hobbying!

Elf Lords And Mages (Magi?!)

Along with my Blood Angels etc. for 40K, I also collect a couple of armies for Warhammer Fantasy; these being Bretonnians and High Elves. Back "in the day" (a term i hate!) I collected High Elves only - the "day" being when my friends and I were thirteen. When we got back into the hobby I dug the army out of the attic and  rejuvenated it. I stripped all the paint from the models and began the task to paint the 3000 or so points i had. Along the way I have added more of the newer models to the army, but I just love that old school vibe of the 90's Games Workshop Elves. The plan I have for the force is to mould it into the Finuval Plains army that defeated the Dark Elves in the famous Tyrion and Teclis story. I plan to get the Finecast Tyrion model, and "old school" Teclis is on the paint table at the moment (not a fan of the new sculpt).

The colour scheme of the army is the traditional blue and white trim GW paints its' models in. I love the regal look of the scheme - it screams pomp and arrogance to me!! I paint all the gems deep purple. Whilst I have several units and models painted, ill start off by showing the mounted Noble and Mage models I have built.

Blood Angel Terminators

OK, so i was thinking of ways to use this blog, being new to the old bloggery business and all, and i immediately thought one way is shameless self promotion! Our gaming group of three (me - Adam, Simon and Stuart (AKA Stuey Babes)) play a variety of different games such as Warhammer Fantasy, 40K, Warmachine to name a few. Ill let them show examples of their interests in the future. One of my passions are Space (SPEEHHS) Marines (MUREEENZZ!!) and I currently have ongoing armies for Blood Angels, Ultramarines and Space Wolves. I love power armor, its no secret amongst friends! So, to kick things off I'll show you some shots of my recently finished Blood Angel Terminator squad.

Terminator Squad Morvael

I will show more pictures of the army in due course when i update my album - I now have a decent-ish camera and a light-box, whereas i used to use the good old camera phone! The Blood Angel force was inspired by the Space Hulk re-release, when Simon bought it and asked me to paint Brother Goriel - poor picture alert!

Brother Goriel

A piece i am still quite proud of now. Painting red is a be-atch, and i think i have developed quite a good method from the model. I go Mecharite Red > Devlan Mud wash > Blood Red (2-3 thin layers) > Blazing Orange Highlights > Baal Red glaze.

Enough ramblings for now, i have my Assault squad to go finish off! Happy Gaming!!
